    • Korean language study has experienced explosive popularity over the past few years. This is evidenced by the number of people taking the Korean Proficiency Test (KPT), the most common test used to determine language skills of foreign speakers of Korean. As the popularity of the Korean language and the number of foreigners residing in Korea have increased, the demand for Korean language education continues to increase as well. A variety of universities, private language institutes, and volunteer service organizations have been formed to meet this demand.
    • Private Language Institutes
    • Private language institutes are businesses designed to provide Korean language education for students. Most of the instructors in these institutes have received training in Korean language education and have several years of experience in the field. These programs are generally more flexible in their registration options and class scheduling.

    • Korean Language Schools
    • Korean language schools are institutes that are generally attached to a university. The purpose of these institutes is to prepare students to speak, read, write, and understand Korean at a level high enough to attend university and post-graduate courses in Korean. The semesters and registration periods tend to be more rigid, but because of their association with larger educational bodies. They also tend to be more consistent and offer a variety in curriculum and classes.
