|Subject||[ITAEWON GVC] Buncheong Sagi: Pottery Class for Beginners|
On Friday, June 21st, from 10:00am-12:00pm, Itaewon Global Village Center, together with National Museum of Korea, will hold a “Buncheong Sagi: Pottery Making Class for Beginners.” Participants will make this pottery from building a clay body to engraving pattern designs on the pottery.
One of the well-known traditional pottery from Korea is the "Buncheong Sagi," or Buncheong Celadon. The technique on making this pottery has started from the Joseon Dynasty. It carries a distinctive pottery design which is glazed with a grayish color. Buncheong Celadon can be divided into 7 categories depending on the techniques applied and the patterns used in the design.
Before the actual practice, participants will be watching a short presentation which includes the introduction on Korean pottery. A detailed guideline will be provided. You can make your own design. However, you should come up with your own design depending on your ability. (NOTE: We are not going to use pottery throwing wheel because this is only a beginners class.)
The venue of the class is the National Museum of Korea, and we will meet at the museum on the class day. Participants will get the pottery 3 weeks later from the class day. The participation fee for the class is 8,000 won. You can sign up in person or by email only.
