|On Friday, February 22nd, 2pm-4pm, will be taking a trip to the Yongsan Crafts Museum for a unique craft class, “Making a necklace using 나전칠기 (Lacquerware inlaid with mother
of pearl).” Participants will have a chance to make a lacquerware necklace with mother of pearl inlay. Lacquerware items are very beautiful and can be used as excellent gifts.
This kind of craftwork (Najeon) has a long history in Korea, and lacquerware artifacts have been unearthed in ancient tombs dating back to even before the three kingdoms period (57BC to 668 AD).
Each participant will be able to make ONE necklace (circle pendant/ width: 4.5cm). Also, if you haven’t had the chance to see the Yongsan Crafts Museum you could take this opportunity to check it out after the class.
Pre-registration by email and pre-payment are required. The fee would be 10,000 won. The venue of this event will be near Hangangjin Station (line 6). Specific details will be emailed to you once you have made your payment. *Only foreigners can join this program*
