|Subject||[ITAEWON GVC] Najeon Mirror Making Class|
On Friday, May 24th, 10:00am-12:00pm, we will be taking a trip to the National Museum of Korea for another traditional Korean craft class, “Making a mirror using 나전칠기(Lacquerware inlaid with mother of pearl).” Participants will have a chance to make a lacquerware mirror using mother of pearl inlay. Lacquerware items are very beautiful and can be used as excellent gifts.
This kind of craftwork (Najeon) has a long history in Korea, and lacquerware artifacts have been unearthed in ancient tombs dating back to even before the three kingdoms period (57 BC to 668 AD).
Each participant will be able to make one mirror which they can take home. The size of the mirrors is about 12cm x 12 cm. Also, if you haven’t had the chance to see the National Museum you could take this opportunity to check it out after the class.
The participation fee is 6,000 won (per ONE MIRROR). You can sign up in person or by email only. Pre-registration & pre-payment is required for this class. To register by email, please email us your name, nationality, phone number and email address.
