|Subject||Andong Jjimdak & Oi Naengguk Cooking Class|
On Friday, May 12th, 10:00am~ 12:00pm, the Itaewon Global Village Center will hold a Korean Cooking class. For this class, we will be cooking one main dish, “Andong Jjimdak” and one side dish, “Oi Naengguk.”
“Andong Jjimdak” is a variety of a chicken stew dish that originates from a place called Andong in Gyeongsangbuk-do province. It is made with chicken, various vegetables like potato, carrots, and green onions, and served together with flat glass noodles. It is marinated and boiled in Korean soy sauce. Compared to other Chicken stew dishes, Andong jjimdak is soy-sauce based and does not use red pepper paste.
The side dish that we will make is called “Oi Naengguk” or cold cucumber soup. “Oi” stands for cucumber, “naeng” means cold and “guk” means soup. This side dish well accompanies the spicy andong jjimdak. Plus, it is a good, refreshing and light soup that is perfect for summer! Not only because it is cold, but its sweet, sour, salty and garlicky soup helps maintain your appetite during the hot summer days. Also, it only takes few minutes to do this dish.
The venue of the class is Cheongjeongwon Cooking Studio near Ewha Woman’s University. The participation fee is 12,000 won. You can sign up in person or by email only. To sign up by email, please email us your name, nationality and phone number.
*** Only foreigners can join this class.
