On Thursday, July 20th, 10:30am-12:00am, the Itaewon Global Village Center will hold a “Temple food making class: Steamed Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf ” The class will give participants an opportunity to learn the natural and healthy Korean temple food.
Temple food refers to the food eaten daily at Buddhist temples. At Buddhist temples, everything is considered a part of practice. From growing vegetables to preparing the food, monks and nuns are directly involved in the whole process.
Monastic practitioners make it a point to always be grateful for the efforts of all those involved in the preparation of food.
This class is a great way to learn more about Korean temple food, Buddhism lifestyle and of course, learn how to cook simple Korean vegan dishes.
The participation fee for this class is 10,000won. We will be cooking steamed rice wrapped in lotus leaf and then the Buddhist monk will also show us how to make Soy Bean Paste Soup (Dwenjjang Jjigae).
