제목 Traditional Japanese Basket making Class

On Friday, September 22nd, 1:00pm-3:00pm, the Itaewon Global Village Center will hold a “Japanese Traditional Persimmon Dye Basket making Class” Participants will have a opportunity to learn about Kakishibu Dye(persimmon dye) by making basket with a Japanese traditional paper.

Kakishibu Dye is a natural dye derived from juicing unripe persimmons. The juice is then fermented to create the final product, tannin which can be used in many domestic situations. This dye is of great cultural value to the Japanese people and has been used throughout much of Japan’s extensive history for many items including wooden products, clothes, and paper for the use of waterproofing and preserving.

First when you just finish the persimmon dye, the color is light brown. It slowly changes into dark brown by the oxidation, UV light and the surrounding temperature.

The color and an artistic touch release an odor of antiquity as the time passes by.

The size of the basket will be as following; width/height: 230~240mm.

*The basket on the picture is an example. There would be some differences in size and design.

The participation fee is 10,000 won(per person/Cash Only). You can sign up in person or by email only
