|Subject||Draw Like an Artist Series 1: Keith Haring|
|On February 2, 10:00am-12:00pm, the Itaewon Global Village Center will hold a class ‘Draw like an artist series 1: Keith Haring’. The class will give you an opportunity to explore the world of Keith Haring and create your own drawing inspired by Haring. At the same time, you will learn what inspired him as an artist from the perspective of the 1980’s cultural background and his personal life.
Keith Allen Haring (May 4, 1958 – February 16, 1990) was an American artist whose pop art and graffiti-like work grew out of the New York City street culture of the 1980s. Haring's work grew to iconic popularity from his exuberant spontaneous drawings in New York City subways – chalk outlines on blank black advertising-space backgrounds – depicting radiant babies, flying saucers, and deified dogs. After public recognition he created larger scale works such as colorful murals, many of them commissioned. His imagery has become a widely recognized visual language.
This class will be taught by Sihyun Chon, staff at Itaewon Global Village Center. Sihyun is a national board certified art teacher with several years experience of graphic designing and art consulting. She had BA Visual Communication Design in Korea and MA Cultural & Creative Industries in the UK.
You can sign up in person or by email only. The fee would be 25,000 won (All materials are included). The venue of this event will be at Itaewon Global Village Center.
