|제목||Vegan Cooking Class: Vegan Kimchi|
|On Thursday, June 21st, 10:30am-12:00pm, the Itaewon Global Village Center will hold a “Vegan Cooking Class: Temple (Vegan) Kimchi.” Kimchi is a staple in Korean cuisine, but it is quite difficult to find vegan kimchi. Traditionally, Koreans make use of shrimp paste and anchovy sauce as seasoning for Kimchi. However, temple Kimchi doesn’t use any animal-based seasonings. In this class, each participant will get to make their own cabbage kimchi (about 1kg each) and they will give us free “mukeun kimchi” or well-fermented kimchi.
The basic concept of Vegetarian food is well known as “Temple food” in Korea. Buddhist monk seeks to the way of living nature by eating foods in its natural state. For this reason, their cooking style is focused on how it can derive the original taste itself from the each natural ingredient.
The instructor for this session is Buddhist nun monk, and it may contain the Buddhist way of meditation. The venue of the class is near Anguk station (line 3). The participation fee is 30,000 won (kimchi ingredients are expensive). You can sign up in person or by email only.
