|제목||Pottery Class for Beginners|
|On Tuesday, January 29th, 10:00am-12:00pm, the Itaewon Global Village Center will hold a “Pottery Making Class for Beginners: Buncheong Ware.” Participants will make this pottery from building a clay body to engraving pattern designs on the pottery.
One of the well-known traditional pottery from Korea is the "Buncheong Sagi," or Buncheong Celadon. The technique on making this pottery has started from the Joseon Dynasty. It carries a distinctive pottery design which is glazed with a grayish blue color. Buncheong Celadon can be divided into 7 categories depending on the techniques applied and the patterns used in the design.
Before the actual practice, participants will be watching a short presentation which includes the introduction on Korean pottery. A detailed guideline will be provided, so you don’t have to worry about design and executing your desired pottery shape. (NOTE: We are not going to use pottery wheel.)
The venue of the class is the National Museum of Korea, and we will meet at the museum on the class day. Participants will get the pottery 3 weeks later from the class day. The participation fee for the class is 8,000 won. You can sign up in person or by email only.
